☆ attention 注意力
============================
If you give someone or something your attention, you look at it, or listen to it, or think about it carefully. These days we talk a lot about our “attention span” which is the length of time you are able to concentrate on something. Generally as young children, our attention span is quite short, and it is difficult to concentrate on something for a long time.
As we get older, we are supposed to get better at concentrating for longer periods. Is this true for you? For me, I find it more difficult to concentrate these days, and think that my attention span is getting shorter! I think it comes from being interrupted so often by things like emails and telephone calls and the Internet!
Have you heard of the condition, “Attention Deficit Disorder” or ADD? This is a condition where people (usually children) are not able to put their attention on anything for a long time, so they find it difficult to learn. It seems to be becoming more and more common in western culture. What about in Japan?
On a side note, apparently Richard Branson has ADD, so it might not be a bad thing!
Bye,
Chris
