In March we had a state election for South Australia. A man that I went to school with was running for election! I haven’t seen or heard anything about him since leaving school, and then suddenly, his posters were all over our community!! It was very strange to see his face everywhere… I don’t agree with his ideas so I didn’t vote for him, but he won. So for the next four years he is responsible for building a good, strong community – especially if he wants to be re-elected at the next election in 2018.
I wonder if he’ll be a good community leader. His party is more interested in raising money for themselves than doing good for the community though, so I’m not sure! How about in Japan – do you have elections for prefectures? Or is there just one main election for the Japanese prime minister? How do the smaller communities throughout Japan get their voice heard by the government?
