Have you heard of this word before? I’m sure you know the
verb, “welcome”, but have you seen it as an adjective like this?

There are two main uses. Firstly to describe a person, and second
to describe a place. Here are some examples:

She always has a welcoming smile on her face.
When I arrived at the party, the host was very welcoming.

The restaurant is small and very welcoming.
I always find Sydney airport to be very welcoming.

“Welcome”という動詞はご存知でしょうが、このように形容詞で使われているのを見たことがありましたか?

主に、ふたつの使い方があります。
ひとつは人を表し、もうひとつは場所を表す使い方です。
例を挙げてみましょう:

She always has a welcoming smile on her face.
(彼女はいつも友好的な笑顔を顔に浮かべている)

When I arrived at the party, the host was very welcoming.
(パーティ会場についたら、主催者がとても歓迎してくれた)
