“Affect” and “effect” are two words that even many native speakers
get mixed up. Affect, today’s word, means to change or influence someone
or something in some way. It is a verb, never a noun.
Eg. Computers and smart phones are affecting our lives in many ways.

“Effect” is usually use11/d as a noun, and is the “change or event which
Happens because something else happens.
One effect of the increase in the use of computers is that people are
less sociable.

“Effect” can sometimes be used as a verb, but not often, and only in formal
situations. If you effect something it means that you succeed in achieving
something you are trying to achieve.
