Are you a quiet person? Abraham Lincoln once said that
being a quiet person is a good idea. His reason was that if
you don’t speak, people might think that you are a fool, but
if you DO speak, then they will KNOW you are a fool! Ha ha!

Is there a similar saying in Japanese culture? Is it better to be
a quiet person rather than someone who is noisy or outspoken?

By the way, Lincoln’s quote is: “Better to remain silent and be
thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”

かつてリンカーンは、無口であることは良いと言っていました。
というのも、話をしないと周りには間抜けと思われてしまうかもしれませんが、話をすると間抜けだということが知れてしまうからです。ハハハ…！

日本の文化でも同じような諺がありますか？ものごとをポンポン言い、騒がしい人よりも、無口でいた方が良いのでしょうか？
