Most often, “modest” is used to describe a person, however,
you can also use it to describe a building, house or hotel. Or even
to talk about amounts, rates and improvements that are “small”.

Here are some example sentences:

They live in a modest home.
It’s a modest hotel, and only costs around $65 per night.
The government reforms have been modest, and barely noticeable.
He’s making a modest living out of his internet business.
