When you estimate something, you are trying to guess or make an
approximate judgment about the value or quantity of that thing.
For example, “I estimate it will take you about 10 minutes to read
this mini-mail magazine each morning. “

Did I estimate correctly? Did I estimate too much time? Too little
time? When we set up a To-Do list, it can be a good idea to estimate
how much time each task will need… often we estimate that a task
will take a lot less time that it really does, and so we don’t get everything
done! Have you ever experienced this? Do you try to estimate the time
you’ll need for tasks before you do them?

何かを見積もるということは、そのこと(もの)の価値や数量の、おおよその判断や推測をすることです。
例えば、

“I estimate it will take you about 10 minutes to read this mini- mail magazine each morning. ”
(毎朝このメールマガジンを読むのに10分くらいかかるのでは、と見積もっています)

となります。

私の見積もりは、当たっていますか？
それとも、10分の見積もりでは、長すぎるかな？短すぎ？
TO DOリストを書く時にはそれぞれの“やること”にどのくらいの時間がかかるか、見積もっておくのも良いでしょう。
実際にかかる時間の方が見積もった時間よりも多くかかり、全部こなせないことが多いです。
そのような経験はありませんか？
ものごとに取り掛かる前に、それにかかる時間を見積もっていますか？
