Have you ever taken part in a formal debate, where there is
two groups and a judge (or more than one judge)? I guess the
way a debate is done is the same in English and in Japanese,
right?

In English, we have the “pro” team, called the “affirmative team”
and the “con” team, called the “negative team”. There is also a
“chairperson” who controls the debate, including the opening, the flow
and the closing. In some cases, there is also a “timekeeper”, who
makes sure that no speaker goes over their time limit.

Can you see what I did here? I collected related words for you to
study, by using “debate” as the topic. When you come across a
word you know, or even if you don’t know it, you can always increase
your learning, by looking at related words in this way.
