☆ outlook　物の見方

We often talk about having a positive outlook on life. I think this word
is interesting, because when you break it up into the two words, “out”
and “look”, you can see what it means easily. When we “look” “out” at
the world, what do we feel? It’s also interesting though, because
our outlook is actually how we feel on the “in”side, rather than the “out”side!

Remember to use this technique of breaking a word into parts to try
to determine the meaning of a new word. Of course, it doesn’t work for
every word, but often for longer words, you can break them down into
parts which will help you guess the meaning before you check your
dictionary.

私がこの言葉(“outlook”)を面白いと感じるのは、単語を分解すると“out”と“look”に分けられ、そうすると言葉の意味がよく分かるからです。
世の中を“look”“out”すると、どう感じるでしょう？
もうひとつ、物の見方は、“out”ではなく、自分の“in”で感じることだということが面白いですよね！

この、単語を分けて言葉の意味を考えるというテクニックを覚えておいてください。
全ての単語に通用する訳ではありませんが、辞書を引く前に単語を分解することによって、意味を推測することが出来るかもしれませんよ！
