Have you ever heard of the “Day of Compassion”? From 1993 to 1998,
every year on June 21, over TV shows in America mentioned AIDS and
HIV-postive in their programs. The purpose was to show compassion for
sufferers and also to build awareness about the problem of AIDS.

Even though it was one of the biggest TV events in US history, it suddenly
stopped in 1998, and I can’t find any information about why… Obviously
AIDS is still a problem and people still need to be made aware of it, so I
why this “Day of Compassion” idea ended after just 5 years. Any idea??

1993年から1998年の6月21日は、アメリカではエイズやHIV陽性などについての番組をテレビで放映しました。
苦しんでいる人に同情し、またエイズの問題を認識させるのが目的です。

アメリカのテレビ史上で最も大きなイベントのひとつであったにもかかわらず、1998年に突然終わりました。
その理由は…全く情報がなく、分かりません。
もちろんエイズは今も問題で、私達はその認識を持ち、気をつけていかなければなりません。
この“同情の日”がたったの5年で終わったのはなぜなのか、不思議です。
ご存知の方、いらっしゃいますか？
