Yesterday we had an “ingenious idea”, now today we have an
“ordinary” one! Here’s an ordinary idea on how to remember
new English words:

Write the word in English on one side of a small card, and then
write the meaning in Japanese on the other side.

A very ordinary idea, right?! If you wanted to make this idea more
ingenious, what you could do, is instead of writing the meaning in
Japanese, draw a picture or image of the meaning. This is easy for
concrete words like “apple” or “building” but more difficult for
abstract words like “ordinary” and “awe”… however, if you can
create an image for such words, then your vocabulary cards will
be much more powerful because our brain works with images first,
and also because the images will be unique to you.

とても平凡ですよね！？
これを独創的にするには、日本語で意味を書く代わりに、その単語のイメージを絵にしてみるのです。
“apple”や、“building”などという単語では簡単ですが、“ordinary”や“awe”などの単語は難しいでしょう。
しかし、各単語のイメージを作ることが出来れば、脳はまずイメージから反応するし、そのイメージはあなた独自のものなので、その単語帳は効果があると言えます。
