An American friend of mine, living in Tokyo, is a musician.
He has many different jobs, playing piano at hotels, writing
songs and he even translates J-Pop songs for Japanese
musicians wanting to sell their music to foreign music producers.
So even though he is not a famous musician, he is able to
make a nice living.

Do you know any musicians? Are they famous? If not, are
they able to make a salary as a musician? Sometimes it
can be hard to make a living as a musician or artist, if you
are not famous. (A good example of an artist who couldn’t
make a living – Van Gogh!)

東京に住んでいる私の友人はアメリカ人の音楽家です。
彼はいろいろな仕事をしています。
ホテルでピアノを弾いたり、曲を書いたり、外国の音楽プロデューサーに売り込みたい日本人の音楽家のためにＪポップの曲を翻訳したり。
有名な音楽家ではありませんが、彼は良い暮らしを送ることが出来ています。

あなたには、音楽家の知り合いがいますか？
その人は有名でしょうか？
そうでないなら、音楽家として給料を得ることが出来ているのでしょうか？
有名にならないと、音楽家やアーティストとして生計を立てるのは難しいでしょうね。
(アーティストとして身を立てることが出来なかった画家の良い例が、ゴッホです！)
