“Intellectual” is often used to describe art, and depending on the tone
of voice, it can have a negative nuance. The following sentence, can
have a positive or negative meaning, depending on how you say it.

His art work is very intellectual.

In the positive situation, you are saying that you admire his work because
it makes you think. In the negative nuance, you are saying that you think
his art work is snobby, and you don’t like it.
