When I first came to Japan, people always asked me how many
seasons Australia has. Of course we have four, just like Japan.
After living here for a few years though I realized that Australia
(and other countries) don’t really appreciate the different seasons
like people do in Japan.

Seasonal foods are one of my favorite things about Japan. In
Australia we have seasonal foods however you can usually
buy anything you want no matter what season. Of course, this
is also true in Japan, but Japan also still has food that is only
available at certain times of the year.

Beer is a good example. I saw the autumn beer in the store the
other day. And there is grilled sanma in Autumn. During the cherry
blossom season you can get things flavored with sakura! I love
Sakura-mochi.

私が初めて日本に来た時、「オーストラリアには季節がいくつありますか？」とよく聞かれました。
もちろん、４つですよ、日本のように。
日本に何年か住んだ後に分かった事は、オーストラリア（やその他の国）は、日本の人のようには季節の違いをありがたがらない、ということです。

旬の食べ物があるのは、日本が大好きなところのひとつです。
オーストラリアにも旬の食べ物はありますが、通常、欲しい物はどの季節でも問題なく何でも買えます。
もちろん日本も同じですが、それでも一年の中のその時々だけの食べ物があります。

例えばビール！
先日、お店で秋ビールを見ました。
そして、秋には焼いた秋刀魚もありますね。
桜の季節には、桜味の食べ物を手に入れる事が出来ます！
私は桜餅が大好きです。
