I really like the saying in Kumi Inoue’s essay, this
month, “Being aware is more important than what you
wear”. I think this is true, but we also need to be
aware that people do judge us by what we wear.

By the way, did you notice that “wear” and “aware”
are pronounced the same even though the spelling is
different? It’s one of the worst things about English
I think. And one of the best things about Japanese!

What do you think is the best/worst thing about English?

今月の井上久美さんのエッセーの中に出てくることわざは結構好きです。
「何を意識するかの方が、何を身につけるのかよりも大切」
これは本当にそうと思いますが、身につけるものによって、他人が自分のことを判断するのも本当ですね。

ところで、「wear」と「aware」はつづりが違うのに発音は同じだと気付きましたか？
これは英語の一番大変なところだと思います。
