Yesterday, I said I thought it would be
nice if people said, “I love you” more
often, right? Interestingly, though, I
can’t get used to the custom of hugging
people all the time that the Americans have!

The physical benefits of hugging are very
powerful, probably much more powerful than
saying, “I love you”… but for some reason
hugging people who are not family members,
feels strange to me!

How about you? Are there any Western customs
that you cannot understand or cannot get
used to?

昨日は、みんなもっと｢愛してる｣と言えばいいのに！と書きましたね。
でも、おもしろいことに、私は人と会ったときに「抱きしめる」というアメリカの習慣にはなじめません。

抱きしめることは身体的な効果もあるし、｢愛してる｣と言うよりも効果は強いかもしれませんが、家族でない人を抱きしめるのには違和感を感じます。
