When I first went to Japan, there was no such thing as internet connections at home! I had to go into Harajuku and use an Internet café to get in touch with my family. Of course, I could call them and get in touch that way, but it was hard to find the right time to call, so email was more convenient.

The other night, my friend called me at 10pm on a Tuesday! I was so surprised – it’s not that late, but it is late when you have young kids! Ha ha. I didn’t answer, but I did send a text back asking if everything was OK. She was fine, she just wanted to get in touch and have a chat!! She agreed it was a late time to call, but her kids were asleep, so it seemed like the perfect time to get in touch! Ha ha!
