Today’s Word: wary

☆  wary  用心深い

If you are feeling wary of something or someone, it means you are feeling cautious because you do not know much about them and you believe they might be dangerous or cause problems. For example, parents need to teach their children to be wary of strangers. Or, you might be wary of asking your boss for a raise.

However, if doesn’t need to be a serious or negative situation, in order to use wary. For example, in a humorous way, I am often wary when my boys say, “mum, listen to this!” because it usually means they are going to make a disgusting noise or even worse, fart! Ha ha! I don’t know about kids in Japan, but farts are hilarious in Australia… apparently!!
