☆  steep  (カーブなどが)急な

Something that is steep rises at a sharp angle and is difficult to go up – so we talk about steep hills in the mountainside, or the steep roads of San Francisco. However, one of the most common uses of this word is in the idiom, a “steep learning curve”.

A steep learning curve means that something is difficult and takes a lot of effort to learn. This idiom comes from the idea that steep mountains are difficult to climb. The good thing about steep mountains is that the view at the top is fantastic, right? And that’s kind of the same for something with a steep learning curve – it might be difficult to learn at first, but once you have mastered it, it is a great skill to have! Like English 🙂
