☆  insist  主張する

If you insist that something that something should be done, you say it should be done firmly and refuse to give in, even if people are against what you are saying. Here are some example sentences:

My family insisted that I should not quit my job.
She insisted on coming with me to the meeting.
I didn’t want to go to the party, but my friends insisted.

My youngest son hates it when I insist that he brush his teeth twice a day. It is a battle every morning and night, but I keep on insisting that he do it! Hopefully one day, he’ll accept that he needs to do it, and I can stop insisting every time!
