Collecting things is a common hobby in western culture. When my parents were young, a common hobby was collecting rare stamps or books. Nowadays of course, people rarely send letters, so collecting stamps is not a common hobby. Instead, kids like to collect Pokemon cards, or cards of their favorite athletes. Although they have actual cards to collect, they also have digital versions which you can buy, swap, and collect.
In the future, as things become more and more digital, I wonder if the things we collect will change even more? I wonder if kids in the future will only collect things online, or if collecting things like trading cards will still be popular. How are things in Japan? Is collecting something popular? Has it changed during your generation compared to your parents’ generation?
