Respond, reply, and answer can generally be used interchangeably. However, “respond” and “reply” are a little more formal, and are more likely to be used in written English, whereas “answer” is more likely to be used with spoken English. However, you can use any of these words, just remember that you might need to use “to”:
Please answer my question.
Please reply to my question.
Please respond to my question.
She wouldn’t answer me.
She wouldn’t reply to me.
She wouldn’t respond to me.
