☆ custom 風習

============================

Sometimes students are confused about the difference between
a “custom” and a “habit”, here’s an explanation:

Custom – something done by the people in a society in a particular
situation or at a particular time of year.
e.g. It’s Japanese custom to visit a shrine during the New Year break.

Habit – something that an individual person does often or regularly,
usually for no reason.
e.g I usually air out my futon when the weather is fine.

In other words, a custom is something that all (or most) Japanese
people do, whereas a habit is something that you do. Hope that helps!
