There are many ways to use today’s word. Usually it refers
to a serious disagreement between two people (or groups) that
have not yet reached an agreement. For example: Management
and staff are in conflict over budget cuts.

It can also be used to refer to your state of mind if you are finding it
impossible to make a decision: I’m in a state of inner conflict about
whether to live abroad or not.

And it is used by journalists or in formal writing to mean fighting
between countries or groups of people.

今日の言葉は、色々な使い方があります。
通常は、二人の人(二つのグループ)などで、意見の不一致があり、同意を得られない状態のことを指します。
例：

“Management and staff are in conflict over budget cuts. ”
(予算削減に関して経営陣と社員が対立している)

また、決断が出来ないでいる心理状態を指します。

“I’m in a state of inner conflict about whether to live abroad or not. ”
(海外移住するかどうか、心の中で葛藤している状態です)

さらには、ジャーナリスズムや正式な文書などで、二国の間で争いがあると表現する時に使います。
