☆ remark 発言

============================

“Remark” is basically the same as the noun, “comment”, however it
is a little more formal. So you could use it when you are angry, such as
in the “Useful Phrases” example: “What is that remark supposed to mean?”

You could also use it when you are reporting what was said to someone
who wasn’t there. Such as, “Peter made some remarks about the new project
in today’s meeting” and then if the other person said, “What did he say?” you
would go into more detail.

In the previous example, if Peter didn’t say very much about the project, and you
don’t think his comments are important enough to repeat, you would say, “Peter
made some passing remarks about the new project in today’s meeting”.

今日の言葉“Remark”は、名詞の“comment”と基本的には同じですが、ややフォーマルに使います。
手帳の“Useful Phrases”にもありますが、怒っている時などは
“What does that remark supposed to mean? ”
(今の発言はどういう意味?)
などと言います。

また、
“Peter made some remarks about the new project in today’s meeting. ”
(今日の会議でピーターが、新しいプロジェクトに関しての発言をしていました)
というように、その場にいなかった人へ報告をすれば、何と言っていた?とそこから詳細に入っていけます。

前述の例で、もしピーターがプロジェクトについて特に何も発言をせず、また、彼の言ったコメントは繰り返すほど重要ではないと思ったら、
“Peter made some passing remarks about the new project in today’s meeting. ”
(ピーターは今日の会議で一時的な発言をしていた)
と言えます。

それでは!
