To “sew” is another popular hobby for women in western
countries. Sewing by hand or with a machine to create
clothes or quilts. Just like the knitting groups, there are
also sewing groups that get together to make quilts.

Making quilts has become so popular there was even a
movie about it in 1995: How to Make an American Quilt.

Are these kinds of hobbies, knitting and sewing, popular
in Japan, too?

手縫いやミシンで、洋服やキルトを縫うのです。
編み物のグループのように、集まってキルティングを作るグループもあります。
