When I first came to Japan about 10 years ago,
“loose socks” were really popular with the school
girls. But recentely I haven’t seen them so much.

This trend was interesting to me because it was
not a trend that was happening in Australia or
America. However, the word became a katakana word,
which usually means it is a borrowed word, right?

Why was “loose socks” in katakana and not Japanese?
Just because “loose socks” is cooler??

１０年くらい前、はじめて日本に来た時に「ルーズソックス」は女子高校生達に大人気でした。
でも、最近はあまり見ませんね。
このトレンドは興味深いものでした。
なぜかといえば、アメリカやオーストラリアなどには無いトレンドなのに、カタカナ英語になったからです。
カタカナ英語はだいたい借用語に使いますよね？

「ルーズソックス」がカタカナで書いてあるのはなぜでしょう？
「ルーズソックス」と書いた方がカッコいいからかな？!
