What stimulated you to study English?
Was it just that you had to study English
for school? Or was there some exciting reason
that stimulated you?

For me, what stimulated me to learn Japanese
was that my teacher had been on a home stay to
Japan for one year, and she recommended that I
go on a home stay, too.

After hearing her story, I decided to go. So when
I was 16 I came to Japan for a six-week-homestay.
It was so　exciting and stimulating that when I
returned to　Australia I made up my mind to study
Japanese　at university…

英語を勉強しようとあなたを刺激したのはなんでしたか？
単に学校で勉強しなければいけなかったから？
それとも、他の楽しい理由があなたを刺激しましたか？

私の場合、学校で、ある先生から刺激されたのが日本語を勉強しようと思った理由でした。
彼女は１年間、日本でホームステイをしたことがあって、私にも日本でのホームステイを勧めてくれました。

彼女の話を聞いてから、行こうと決めました。
１６歳のときに６週間、日本へホームスティーをしました。
それは、とても楽しくて刺激的で、オーストラリアに帰って大学に入ったら、絶対に日本語を勉強する！と決めました。
