The word forbidden fruit comes from
the Garden of Eden story in the Bible. The
“forbidden fruit” is now known to be an apple,
but in the Bible, the type of fruit isn’t
actually mentioned…

God forbade Adam and Eve to touch the fruit of
the tree of knowledge. But they ate it anyway!

And these days, the “fruit” is said to be an
Apple. The ‘Adam’s apple’ is named after the
fruit which is supposed to have gotten stuck
in Adam’s throat.

「禁断の果実」と言う単語は聖書にあるエデンの園の話から始まりました。
その「禁断の果実」はりんごと思われていますが、聖書にはどんな果物かは詳しく書かれていません。

神様はアダムとイヴに知識の木の果物を食べるのを禁じました。
でも、食べてしまいます！
そして、現在、その果物はりんごと思われています。

アダムがその禁断の果実を飲み込もうとしたとき、のどにつかえたので、「Adam’s apple (のど仏)」というネーミングになったということですよ。
