The word “honest” is used to describe someone
that always tells the truth and doesn’t try to
deceive other people.

But the word honest can be used in other ways, too.
Here are some examples:

That’s all I know, honest! (To emphasize that you are
telling the truth.)

Honest to God, I wish we hadn’t gone to the party. (A way to
emphasize your feelings.)

To be honest, it doesn’t really suit you. (This is a way
to indicate you are telling the truth about your
feelings and opinion, it is good to use it when you think
the other person will be disappointed.)

「正直な」は「本当のことしか言わない人」や「他人をだまそうとしない人」を表現するときに使う単語ですね。
でもそれ以外の使い方もあるので、ご紹介します。

私が知っているのはそれだけです。本当です。
(本当のことを言っていると力説するとき)

本当に、あのパーティーに行かなければよかったね。
(自分の気持ちを正直に言いたいとき)

正直に言えば、すごく似合う！と言う程ではないね。
（本当の意見や気持ちを言う場合に使いますが、相手が聞いて落ち込みそうなことを言うときに使うといいですよ）
