☆ momentum 機運
============================
Today is St. Patrick’s Day, is this day celebrated in any way in Japan? In Australia, it is celebrated, but it isn’t a public holiday. It is mostly a chance for people to celebrate their connection to Ireland (if they have one) and of course, it’s a great way for pubs and restaurants to get customers, because they have a “green” event of some kind – people might dress up in green for example.
It’s interesting to see these kinds of events and celebrations gain momentum over the years. Halloween is another one, in Australia when I was growing up, it was never celebrated. And when I lived in Japan, I rarely saw anything related to Halloween. But now, celebrating Halloween has gained momentum, all around the world, even in Japan, right? It’s much more popular these days.
I might be cynical though, but I think these kinds of events gain popularity and momentum thanks to marketers wanting to make more money!!
Bye,
