Clothing that is flared is wider at the bottom or at the end of the legs than at the top. So, for example, in the 1970’s flared trousers were very fashionable. In fact, if you search Google for flared clothing images, you’ll get a lot of photos from the 1970’s from fashion history pages. There are some pretty funny images!

For me, I’m not really a fan of flared clothing. My high school uniform was a flared green skirt. These days, I rarely wear green, and I avoid wearing flared skirts – they don’t suit my shape, and they remind me of being in school!
